Malika Flanagan, an 8th grade student at Baldwin School, recently took the 2007 American Mathematics Contest 8 (AMC 8). Malika received the highest score in Puerto Rico and will receive the Top in State award plaque from the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). According to the MAA, the AMC 8 is a 25 question, 40 minute multiple choice examination in middle school mathematics which is designed to promote the development and enhancement of problem solving skills.
Twelve of our 7th and 8th grade students took the exam. Most are members of the Math Club. The intramural awards for our school were as follows:
