The Math Club of Colegio Espíritu Santo honored and recognized our Math Club advisor Nora Nido at the recent Mathematical Invitational on Nov. 2, 2007. Ten professors were honored for their dedication to Mathematics on our beautiful island. The following is a translation of the inscription on the plaque:
To Professor Nora Nido
For always being there to satisfy the intellectual curiosity of your students; for disseminating in your school the seeds of knowledge; for serving as a guide and being a fountain of inspiration; for helping develop mathematical talent; for being an illustrious figure in the teaching of mathematics; for being who you are, we recognize you as an exceptional professor. Congratulations Nora!
Our Math Team has been doing extremely well. At this same Invitational at Colegio Espíritu Santo on Nov. 2, our team came in 4 th place out of 47 schools. Afterwards during the Math Club meeting on Friday afternoon, some of the students who had competed were excitedly working on the problems they had not been able to solve at the competition. Congratulations to Manav Ghai, Jose Pertierra, Robert Valdes, and Alan Wagner!
Friday Nov. 9 was another fantastic day for our Math Club members Laurence Johnson, Finbar O’Donoghue, Jose Pertierra, and Alan Wagner who came in with a First Place win at the competition at Colegio San Ignacio. Congratulations to Nora and the whole team!
