OECC Annual Art Show with special guest Antonio Martorell
Our young artists from the Oxman Early Childhood Center celebrated their annual Art Show and received with big smiles and colorful hats Puerto Rican artist Antonio Martorell . Three papier-mâché dolls were made by the students for an installation called: Martorell C.N. (Martorell en el corazón de los niños). Parents and students watched amazed as the artist drew two quick portraits of the children while explaining the process. He was then surprised by the children with a cake in celebration of his 69th birthday.
After spending time and looking at the beautiful art work done by the Pre Kinder and Kindergarten students, Martorell went to the Elementary School where students received him singing Happy Birthday and presenting him with a beautiful hat. Three books containing photos and copies of the work done by the students, inspired in different examples of his art, were presented to Martorell. In his own words: “I wish I can keep celebrating my birthday like this!”
