Baldwin Elementary Art students have done it again! For the fourth year in a row our young artists have won many of the prizes given by the RICHART Chocolat: “Graines de Gourmet” Inspired by the theme: “Something delicious that I would like to cook with my friend”, the children made their drawings using their favorite mediums: oil pastels, colored pencils, markers and paint. From twelve prizes given in Puerto Rico , we had eleven winners: Lorena Quintana, María Luisa Colón, Jean Paul Dardet, Manuel Morales, Shaelyn Duff, Camila Pabón, Isabel Docal, Paola Llerandi, Pierre Saintigny, Laura Jaramillo, and Robert Soltero. They were selected from a distinguished group of judges including artists Rafael Trelles, Myrna Báez, and Jose Luis Diaz among others.
From this selection the drawings go to France and there they compete with children from around the world for the five awards given. From this final awards Baldwin students won three: Robert Soltero, Laura Jaramillo and Pierre Saintigny. The children received their prizes on a beautiful activity held at the Richart store by its owner Nanette Rosa. During the activity artist Rafael Trelles took the time to explain to the students the reasons why their drawings were selected and encourage them to keep drawing. Children were then given the opportunity to see their designs printed on the chocolates.
