Stella Diaz '02: A Supermodel in the Making

Stella Díaz from the class of 2002 recently appeared on the NBC hit TV reality show “Swimsuit Sports Illustrated: Model Search.” She had the honor of being one of the twelve finalists out of thousands of applicants, and to be the only contestant from Puerto Rico. Once she arrived to L.A. she had her first runaway show, where she had to strut her stuff on the spot for the judges. The following day Stella gave 120% on the first photo shoot and made it to the next round amongst the remaining eight finalists. Unfortunately, Stella was eliminated in her second challenge despite her great performance.

This young lady enjoys all the activities a fun, free-spirited girl likes: the beach, dancing, the mall, writing poetry and spending time with friends and family. Currently in her third year at Sacred Heart University, PR, Stella is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications with a major in Publicity and Public Relations. She definitely encompasses the perfect balance between brains and beauty. As a model, she has gained much recognition in the local industry, appearing in a variety of print advertisements and was a finalist in Miss Puerto Rico 2002. With her exposure in Sports Illustrated, we don’t doubt she’ll be breaking into the International market any time soon. Congratulations Stella on all your achievements… we’ll be watching!

A Blast from the Past

Fernando Alonso, class of ’87 and Puerto Rico Presidential Scholar for that year, wrote to us and gave us an update on his life. “After working for eight years at Westtown School, a Quaker boarding school outside of Philly, last year I left Westtown and joined the faculty at The Hotchkiss School, a boarding school in Lakeville, Connecticut. As I start my second year here I was named co-chair of the math department and dorm head for one of the upper class boy dorms. I love teaching and Baldwin was responsible for that”.
