It seems picture number one is the winner in responses. So many memories come back to life. Let me share some of what was sent in:
Alex Puig, 84: “Picture 1 is definitely the track team from 1983. It includes Bertil Chappuis ’84, Geoffrey Bilder ’83, on of the Bontempi’s ’83, Thomas Engfer ’85, Treba Thompson ’84, Carlos Leute ’85 and Paula Coulter ’84.”
Ray Bontempi ’83: “I know almost all the people in this picture. This is the cross-country team (or possibly the track team) probably from either ’81 or ’82. Left to right from back row: Marisol Gómez ’84, James Wright (I think) ’84, unknown, Heidi Engfer ’83, unknown, Ray Bontempi ’83, Bertil Chappuis ’84, Thomas Engfer ’85, Geoffrey Bilder ’83 and Treba Thompson ’84. Front row are: Len Bontempi ’82, Paula Coulter ’84, and Bob Solecki ’82, unknown, unknown. In his e-mail Ray remembers when “back then we use to travel to meets in a broken down 1960’s VW microbus with a broken door that wouldn’t close. The net effect was that we would have to wind our way through the mountain roads with the door wide open. I don’t think we won anything that year, but we had a lot of fun…”
Len Bontempi ’82: “I visited the website and found your “best shot page” Truly unbelievable, a 24 year old crotch shot of me on the Internet! I would say that picture was from the 1980 or 1981 Cross Country Team although I have my basketball warm up shirt on for some reason. Do you have any others from that time period? ….”
Dave Anderson – “attended Baldwin for a year, but had good friends and good times.” He thinks the picture was taken sometime in 1975 and identifies “the tall guy in the middle as Rob Gilfsdorf, a sophomore at the time…I recognize others, but don’t recall their names.”
Carlos Leute “(attended Baldwin from 1978 to 1983 (6th through 10th) – “That’s our track and field team back around 1983 I guess…up front from right is Toby Murray ’85, then me (Carlos Leute, would have been ’85), the blond girl was a grade ahead of us (class 84), second row on right is Treba Thompson (’84) I believe, in the last row is first on the left Jimmy Wright (’85), then Baldwin’s most gifted female athlete all-time Heidi Engfer (’83) and all the way on the right is Geoffrey Bilder (’83)…. I just showed Thomas the picture and he grimaced. He made out Robert Solecki (we believe class of ’82)…in the middle of the front row. To the left of Robert is Paula Coulter (’84). To the left of Treba Thomposon is Thomas Engfer (’85) and the real small kid in that row (to the left) was A.J. aka “Fosforito”on the soccer team (I guess he was in seventh at the time). To Fosforito’s left is Marisol Gómez (’84). The tall guy in the light red polo in the back is Bertil Chappuis (’84).
Carlos also responded to picture number 4. “An early attempt to get the Alumni thing going…On the front row from the left is Joel Katz ’83, don’t know, H. Vazquez (’83),…Annie Garcia (’83), and the girl that was heading all that up at the time…In the back row from the left is myself, Eduardo Molinari ’85, Thomas Engfer ’85, and an unknown at this time. Around that time, we ended up planning an alumni soccer game and an alumni reunion at Bogart’s Pub and Grill in Hato Rey, which was an absolute BLAST!!!…”
Neal Leitner: I am an old student of Baldwin School of P.R. I attended from 1975 until 1980 (5th through 9th grades). The people pictured in that photo were in my class (the ones I can identify anyway.) It appears to have been taken on the old school site, on the new field (new for me) right after the construction was started or ended. So I would date the picture in 1978/1979. Some of the people I can identify are: 1st row for the left: Leonardo Bontempi. 2nd row fro the left: 4th person (girl in back) Heidi Engfer…Tall male with white shorts and shirt is Raymond Bontempi and 2nd to last male…is Geoffrey Bilder. Geoffrey was Barbara Builder’s son and she was principal and taught English under Harry McKay who was the director, and my Algebra 1 and II teacher…”

Picture # 3 - I went to Baldwin from Pre K - 9th grade (1975 - 1985). The woman on the left is Sheila Conley. I know her because she was one of my coaches on the PR Women's National Gymnastics team in the '80s.Love these old pictures - post some more!
