The Environmental Club is helping the bats

On Saturday, October 17, 2015, the Bat Protection Awareness Program (BPAP) and Casa Ambiental Santa Ana (CASA) held their 2nd Festival of the Bat of Puerto Rico at the Julio Enrique Monagas National Park in Bayamon. A group of students from Baldwin’s Environmental Club participated in this year’s Bat Festival, where they were part of educational lectures, participated in crafts and games and were part of the many awareness and protection demonstrations held throughout the day!

The BPAP was created and run by Celia Venza, Baldwin School MUS Science teacher. Mrs. Venza is also a coordinator for (PES – Programa de Escuelas Sustentables), Sustainable Schools Program.

BPAP mission is to educate the public about bats and to build shelters for their protection. Mrs. Venza also created and directs Baldwin’s Environmental Club, where students from 6th to 11th grades actively participate in efforts to study and protect the bat population of Puerto Rico.
