IB Learners are Caring: 5th grade holds a blanket drive for the Vive Alegre Luchando Foundation

The Fifth Grade students are motivated this year to work on their community service project with the VAL Foundation . The VAL Foundation was inspired by Valerie, a child who passed away from cancer, who had the idea of making blankets to keep the children warm  while receiving chemotherapy in the hospital.

On Tuesday, January 26, the Fifth Grade students got together at the VPAC to help make blankets for cancer patients at El Hospital Pediátrico. The Fifth Grade room mothers also helped in this beautiful endeavor. The students worked together in tying "knots of love" around the blankets. Once they were finished, students had to transfer positive thoughts to the blankets so the children would receive them.

These blankets will be delivered by a couple of the Baldwin students on Friday, February 12 at Hospital Pediátrico.

It is was the perfect opportunity to show empathy and how to care for others.
