Dear members of the Baldwin Community,
As you may have noticed the first day of school, the “Visual and Performing Arts Center” appears to be nearly finished. All of the construction is complete and we are now in the process of installing the theater lights, audio-visual components, rigging, curtains, stage floor, and final painting detail. In short, we are about to get the keys to our new building!
Our first official school event in the new building will be on Friday September 28th when Baldwin School will host a Q & A session for this year’s gubernatorial candidates, under the leadership of Baldwin School students. Representative students from San Ignacio, Maritsa, CPN, Academia Maria Reina, and La Nueva Escuela, have been invited to present questions to the various candidates. Members of the written press, television, and radio will cover the event.
We are excited about the flexibility of this new space, which will bolster a wide range of activities, enrich our curriculum, and support our community in a much broader and substantive manner. As I write this letter, the school’s master calendar already has dozens of reservations to use the building. Several activities to celebrate the official inauguration will be taking place in the coming months. You will all be part of this celebratory milestone for Baldwin in one way or another.
I have never been so excited about a building or project at our school. Every person I have given a tour to has been awed by what they have seen. We should all be very proud; I surely am. I look forward to seeing all of you at an activity at the Visual and Performing Arts Center soon.
