Congratulations to Helena do Rego ’27 for creating “SargaTex PR,” an inspiring environmental initiative that transforms sargassum into an eco-friendly, biodegradable textile.
Inspired by the challenges facing Puerto Rico’s beaches, Helena’s project earned her the 2026 Earth Prize for North America, one of the world’s largest environmental competitions for youth, along with a $12,500 award.
Her dedication to sustainability and problem-solving reflects the spirit of a true Bull: using curiosity, knowledge, and action to help build a better future.
