7th grader, Angela Perez wins the Silver Key award for Flash Fiction

Angela Perez received recognition in the Region-at Large program of the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 2015, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists & Writers for her work entitled "Magic" in the Flash Fiction Category.

Angela's work was recognized by a panel of creative professionals as the most outstanding work submitted among her peers. In 2015, more than 300,000 works were submitted to The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards nationwide. Only the top 40% receive some level of regional recognition.

In their 92 year history, The Awards have recognized some of America's most celebrated writers while they were teenagers, including: Sylvia Plath, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King, Robert Redford, Truman Capote, and Myla Goldberg.
