Who is taking the PSAT 8/9?
- All 8th and 9th graders
Why are we taking the PSAT 8/9?
- The PSAT is great practice for the PSAT and the Standard Achievement Test (SAT), which is a critical component to some schools for college admission
When will the test take place?
- The exam will take place on Tuesday, March 5th
What is the PSAT 8/9?
- The PSAT 8/9 is a test that will help you and your teachers figure out what you need to work on most so that you’re ready for college when you graduate from high school.
- It tests the same skills and knowledge as the SAT, PSAT/NMSQT, and PSAT 10 — in a way that makes sense for your grade level.
Where will I take the exam?
- Students will take the exam in the VPAC
- Students who have been approved for extended time will take the exam in Rooms 24 (The French Room)
What do I need to bring to the test?
- Number 2 pencils
- An acceptable calculator
- Snack(s) for the break periods
- A sweatshirt or something that will keep you warm
What not to bring to the test?
- Cell phones
- Hats
When will I receive my exam scores?
- By mid June you will have access to your full score report online through your College Board account.
Exam Day Schedule:
8:22 - 8:30 - Homeroom
8:30 - 9:30 - Reading Section
9:30 - 9:35 - Break
9:35 - 10:05 - Writing Section
10:05 - 10:25 - Math Section
10:25 - 10:30 - Break
10:30 - 11:10 - Math Section (w/calculator)
11:15 - Students dismissed
11:15 - 11:55 - Lunch for 8th and 9th grade
- After lunch 9th grade will proceed to their regular 5th and 6th period classes.
- 8th grade will go to their 5th period class and during 6th period will go to the VPAC to continue working on their community service project.
1:30 - All students go to the VPAC for a special presentation.
