The Friendship Flower - Global Art Exchange Project

As part of the Art Exchange between Baldwin School Elementary Art students and Let's Art School in Korea, kids did a collaborative project called the Friendship Flower. Every day work was exchanged and new things added to it. After weeks working together, it turn out to be a beautiful flower with lots of tiny little creatures living on it. A story was written about it inspired by a moment in which Camelia Toro from 1st grade stood in front of the flower. Each school ended with a different version of it. The children enjoyed it so much they have been including the flower on their drawings and different projects. As part of this year’s recycling project, I made a design for the mural. This was changed when I found in the Korean application of Bigture, that Aleidita Fernandez made her own design of what for her meant to work with children on the other side of the world. It was very touching to see her interpretation; and I asked her if we could do her design instead,

So we are doing it! It will remind us of a wonderful school year in which our classroom has brought down the walls, opening it to friends as far as Korea, Slovenia, Turkey, Finland, and Sweden, among others. In a room with no boundaries, this flower represents the friendship born between our dear Uncle Andy YeonsungLee, his staff, students and our families. Believe me this flower has bloomed not only on that wall, but also in our hearts; and I am sure it will stay there forever.

We give a big thank you to the parents that are drilling every cap to that wall and to all who have recycled caps for us.

Color hugs,

Socorrito
