The National Honor Society (NHS) and The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) are the nation's premier organizations established to recognize outstanding middle and high school students. More than just an honor roll, NHS and NJHS serve to honor those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
The Induction Ceremony of the Luis Muñoz Marín Chapter of the National Honor (NHS) and National Junior Honor Societies (NJHS) of Baldwin School of P.R. was held at the VPAC on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. The advisors for the NJHS and NHS are Lucía Fayad and David Rodríguez respectively.
Our special guest speaker for the afternoon was Ms. Liza Morales, a previous NHS member herself. She has been a prime example of hands-on community service in the Caribbean. As a leader for Operación Compasión, she organized and ran weekly volunteer night shifts that provide medical services and food to those in need. Through the program Iniciativa de Paz, Ms. Morales has also taken her communal efforts to Haiti, where she and other volunteers strive to help marginalized communities get back on their feet. As a public health specialist and promoter of education through peace, it was truly an honor to have had Liza Morales here with us for this ceremony.
