Baldwin Elementary Library celebrates literacy through “Once Upon a Time” Book Fair 2014

Report from Mr. Alex Sanchez, IB Library Specialist

Last week, the Elementary Library held one of the most exciting literacy celebrations of the year. Themed “Once Upon a Time,” the book fair turned out to be as fantastic as it promised to be, with many, many families and friends coming to enjoy the large variety of quality books offered. Throughout the week, elementary students visited with their teachers during scheduled library visits. Our book fair was not limited to elementary students, however, as it offered a fine literature collection that catered to the interests of pre-school and MS/US students, as well. The Baldwin community’s support to this book fair was inspirational! I think several students summed up general sentiment when they said, “So when is the next book fair, Mr. Sanchez?”

Special thanks go to Mrs. Nancy Pagan, Ms. Sofia Vizcarrondo, Ms. Maritza Irizarry and our gracious volunteers who helped to set up. I want to personally thank all students, faculty/staff members, and our families for your support! You all made this event the success that it was. Know that your contributions will be utilized to expand our elementary library collections with high-quality text for the continued enjoyment of our outstanding readers.

Stay tuned, because plans for another celebration are underway! I’ll leave you with this thought…
