A great job was done by all who participated in Baldwin’s Poetry Out Loud competition!
The competition, presented in partnership with The Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP), the National Endowment for the Arts, and the Poetry Foundation, is part of a national program that encourages high school students to learn about great poetry through memorization, performance, and competition.
This was the first time that Baldwin School competed in this English language event for students in 9th – 12th grade in the United States and Puerto Rico.
As winner of this Baldwin competition, Laura Jaramillo will advance to the island – wide Puerto Rico Poetry Out Loud contest. The Puerto Rico champion will advance to the Poetry Out Loud National Finals on April 28‐29, 2015 in Washington, DC, where $50,000 in awards and school stipends will be distributed.
