National Honor Society "Next Generation" event coming this weekend

Organized by the Baldwin NHS, many students will participate this weekend at The Next Generation: an event to benefit the Fundación Hogar Niñito Jesús.

Fundación Hogar Niñito Jesús is a non-profit organization located in San Juan, Puerto Rico that provides a versatile home for abused and/or neglected children from birth to age seven. This foundation was initiated in 1993 by a group of citizens with a common goal, creating a safe shelter for abused children. The foundation initially had five children; presently, the organization holds a capacity of twenty-seven children. The home offers the service and support necessary for proper physical and emotional development of children, including: education, health care, psychiatric services, shelter, protection, summer camps, dental care, psychological services, and balanced nutrition. Fundación Hogar Niñito Jesús’ ultimate goal is to provide a decent and hopeful life for children under seven years old, whom have been removed from their homes by the Department of Family, thus restoring dignity and integrity to abused children through a home experience of receiving love and moral formation.”

On average, about 30,000 children are abused in Puerto Rico and about a third of them do not survive. Years of neglect and abuse result in children who suffer critically from physical and emotional pain; abandoning and ignoring the problem is not an option. The funds raised from this activity help support Fundación Hogar Niñito Jesús strive for the best treatments and services for child victims, giving them an opportunity to succeed and assuring a benevolent future generation in Puerto Rico.
