8th graders present their year-long community service projects

Community Service in Action!

This week, some of our 8th graders presented their year-long community service projects to the school. As part of the MYP curriculum, students are required to identify a problem in their community, research a possible solution, and execute that solution. Students worked alone, or in pairs, on a project that they selected and researched themselves. Some examples of this year's projects included feeding the homeless community of La Placita, rehabilitating manatees in Bayamon, taking care of abandoned or abused horses, volunteering at the San Juan Community Library in Apolo, tutoring students and working with teachers at a local public school, teaching Zumba to the elderly, and teaching stand up paddleboarding to children with autism. We are proud of how our students work for a better world!
