Fourth grade students participated in the Ellis Island Reenactment, as part of their unit of inquiry Where We Are In Place and Time. To continue to truly grasp an immigrant’s experience, students assumed the role of a real immigrant who entered the United States through Ellis Island. The students were able to experience the specific process of migration and imitate experiences from the past as they went through the Ellis Island facility. With this activity, the students are able to develop a deeper understanding that leads to empathy and better communication skills.
Great job!!
